Most Common Area Code 430 Scams

"Karen Haynes" & The Fake Civil Suit Scam

Callers using names like "Karen Haynes," "Darrin Smith," or "Mrs. Brooks" from a company called "Premier" target residents in Northeast Texas with threats of pending civil lawsuits over old debts, sometimes from 15-18 years ago that have already been settled. They threaten to garnish wages or impound cars over the phone, refuse to mail official bills and insist on email or immediate payment, and escalate pressure by calling family members, even deployed sons, leaving voicemails with personal information like dates of birth or the last four digits of social security numbers. They use this personal information to intimidate you into paying money over the phone for debts that are either fake or already resolved. Real debt collectors must send written validation notices within five days. They show up with papers, not phone calls.

"Karen Hayes called me threatening civil suit lawsuit on 18 year old medical debt in Florida. Would be writ of execution, garnishment, car would be impounded, court and etc. WRONG. Debt was long time settled on my dead husband, thank you. Just a scam to scare people to making a call back to them for money over the phone."

Callers vaguely claim a "complaint" has been filed against you but refuse to provide any specifics about the nature of the complaint, threaten to show up at your home or workplace with "papers to sign," demand you have two forms of ID ready, and tell you to call a different number with a "reference number" to get information. They use this panic to trick you into calling the secondary number where they steal your personal information when you try to find out what the fake complaint is about. Official process servers do not call ahead to warn you or ask you to prepare ID. Their job is to deliver papers without notice.

"Female voice stating that they worked for a county and that they would be coming to my office or home with papers to sign and they needed 2 forms of ID."

Fake IRS & Social Security Lawsuits

Robocalls impersonate the IRS and Social Security Administration with automated messages falsely claiming the government has filed a lawsuit against you for "intended fraud" or that your Social Security number has been "suspended" due to criminal activity. They create urgency to make you call them back where they steal your personal information and money by pretending to resolve the fake legal problem. The IRS and SSA never call to threaten you or inform you that your SSN has been suspended. They contact you by mail first.

"Claimed my social security number was suspended due to criminal activity. Left a phone number to call even though I picked up and didn't let it go to voice mail"

Police & Firefighter Donation Scams

Callers like "Brittney" aggressively solicit donations for organizations claiming to support local police, first responders, and firefighters, asking for specific amounts like "$20.00," calling repeatedly 3 to 5 times a day, and switching from a live person to a pre-recorded message during the call. They steal your money by exploiting your respect for first responders, with very little if any funds going to actual police or firefighters. Legitimate first responder organizations do not use aggressive cold-calling tactics multiple times per day.

"Brittney is her name, calls 3 to 5 times a day, wanting $20.00 donation for police, first responders, fire fighters you name it she will ask you for it, please help this BITCH find a new JOB I'm getting pissed off."

Aggressive Education & Degree Callers

Telemarketers immediately start asking personal questions about your education and career goals, become rude, aggressive, or start yelling when you decline their offer, talk over you when you ask to be removed from their call list, and claim not to have a supervisor when you ask to speak with a manager. They use your personal information to generate leads they sell to questionable schools or steal your identity outright. Professional recruiters and legitimate educational institutions do not yell at potential students or refuse to identify supervisors.

"I was very polite and asked to be removed from the call list. The caller then insisted I hear him out... to which he began to talk over me, yell and tell me I shouldn't answer the phone of I didn't want to get the information... When I asked to speak with his supervisor he told me he didn't have one."

Extended Auto Warranty Robocalls

Automated messages bring "good news" about your car's extended warranty, reference specific vehicles you have never owned like a "2018 Dodge Durango," and try to get you to press a button to connect with a high-pressure salesperson. They sell you overpriced service contracts with poor coverage that may not be honored when you need them, violating the National Do Not Call Registry in the process. These calls are not from your car's manufacturer or dealership. They are illegal robocalls from third-party companies.

"Called me and stated they had good news about my 2018 Dodge Durango....I've never owned such a vehicle."
