They threaten four serious allegations against you, say your social security number has been suspended due to fraud, and warn that officers will arrest you within 45 minutes if you don't call back. The caller identifies as "Eric Johnson" with a heavy foreign accent and threatens to freeze your social security number and bank accounts, mentioning an "initial appearance before the magistrate judge or a grand jury." They use your callback to steal personal information and money through fake fines or fees. The Social Security Administration and IRS never call to threaten arrest. They send official letters through U.S. Mail.

Scammers call from local 610 numbers leaving vague messages about "several complaints" or a "pending case" filed against you. They mention a "docket number" or "case file" without naming a specific court or creditor, threaten to dispatch someone to your home and work, and say they will contact your HR department. The initial call comes from one number but directs you to call back a different 800-series number. They use your callback to collect money for debts that don't exist. Real process servers don't call ahead, they simply show up unannounced.

Robocalls begin with a recording from "Ann with the warranty department" claiming your auto warranty is expiring in a "final notice." They claim to have sent you a notice in the mail that you ignored, call about cars you sold long ago, and refuse to stop calling even after you ask to be removed from their list. They use your interest to sell you expensive and often worthless extended service contracts. These are high-pressure telemarketers, not your dealership or car manufacturer.

Callers identifying as "Wendover Corp" or "Business Connection Group" repeatedly call businesses asking about an "upcoming office move." They ask to confirm the date of your office move even though you have no plans to relocate, inquire about employee counts and owners' names, and become rude when challenged or asked to remove you from their call list. They sell the information you provide to movers, commercial realtors, and furniture suppliers. They have no prior knowledge of your company's plans.

Callers using only first names like "Tom" or "Gisele" leave vague, unprofessional voicemails offering to buy your property for cash. They claim they "just bought a house nearby" and mention they recently "bought a property in your area," creating false urgency to make a deal. They use your interest to pressure you into selling your home for significantly less than market value. Legitimate real estate transactions are not initiated through anonymous robocalls.

An unsolicited text from "Jenna" or "Jennifer" pretends she mistakenly texted you about wanting to "meet up" while she's in town for a "break." She quickly becomes flirtatious, asks what you look like, claims to be bored and just out of a bad relationship, and asks if you want to see her on her "laptop cam app." She uses your replies to trick you into signing up for a paid adult website or clicking malicious links. This is not a real person who texted by accident, it is an automated bot.

Scammers pose as support staff from Apple, Amazon, and PayPal with automated voicemails about fraudulent purchases like a "$1499 Apple MacBook on your Amazon account" or warnings that your "Apple iCloud account has been compromised" by someone in Russia. The message tells you to call a specific number back rather than visit the official website, and the caller asks for your password, credit card number, or remote access to your computer. They use this information to steal your money and identity. Real companies never call asking for passwords or remote access to your device.
