Automated calls warn that your Apple iCloud account has been compromised or that a large fraudulent purchase, often over $1,000, was made on your Amazon account, then urge you to press 1 to speak with a support agent. You can hear a loud call center with many other voices in the background if you connect, and the caller asks you to log on to your home computer to "fix the problem." They steal your account credentials or gain remote access to your computer to install malware and steal your personal information. Apple and Amazon handle all security notifications through their official apps or email, never by phone.
