They threaten to file court papers at your work or say you are being investigated for "fraudulent activities" using rude, demanding, and aggressive language that pressures you to call back immediately. A clear-sounding recording, often using a name like "Grace," asks a simple question like "Can you hear me okay?" to get you to say "yes," then immediately hangs up. Scammers pretend to be from Medicare or the "Medicare Health Help Line," asking you to verify your Date of Birth, Social Security Number, and income for "Medicare Advantage plans." These calls come from local 586 numbers but claim to be national organizations, with callers who sound unprofessional or drone on like recordings while pressuring you to enroll over the phone. They use your Medicare number and personal information to steal your identity. To discuss Medicare plans, contact them via the official 1-800-MEDICARE number.

Robocalls or texts claim a large purchase was made on your Amazon account, that your Microsoft license for "$499.00" has expired, or send fake DoorDash verification codes you did not request. They urge you to call a number immediately to cancel the charge, and callers become argumentative when questioned. They steal your financial information or get remote access to your computer to install malware and steal your data. Legitimate companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and DoorDash notify you through your official account online or in their app, never by phone.

Text messages claim you won a large prize like "$30,000" or a Powerball jackpot, often mentioning past lottery winners like "Michelle Leach" to seem credible. They instruct you to text an "agent" like "Peter Jackson" at a different number and provide your name, address, and date of birth via text to start the claims process. They steal your personal information and trick you into paying fake fees or taxes to collect your "winnings." You cannot win a contest you did not enter.
