They sell expensive and often useless service contracts using high-pressure tactics. These callers are not associated with your car's manufacturer or dealership. Pressing any number confirms your line is active and leads to more calls.

They pressure homeowners into selling property for significantly less than market value and use your information for data-mining operations. Many use a recorded voice from someone named Amy with the same script.

Callers claim to collect donations for vague organizations like Police Association or Firefighters and EMS Fund. They become aggressive when you decline to donate, cannot provide a website or charity registration number for verification, and insist on taking your payment information over the phone immediately for donations as small as $15 or $20. They use your credit card information to make unauthorized charges and sell your financial details to other scammers. Most represent Political Action Committees or fundraising companies that keep most of the money collected. Local police and fire departments do not use telemarketers to solicit donations.
