I laughed said 'I didn't realize I was selling my car, goodbye.'"

Phishing Text Message Scams

Text messages claim to be from Amazon saying a seller violated policies and you're entitled to a full refund without returning the item, or from Facebook warning your account is suspended for violating terms and conditions. Both texts create urgency and pressure you to click a suspicious link that doesn't go to the official company website. They use the link to steal your login credentials and hijack your accounts. Amazon and Facebook handle all official notifications securely within their own apps and websites.

"Text saying that my account is in violation of Facebook's T&Cs. URL link in text. Didn't click - signed into Facebook first by going directly to FB site, not their link. No such violation mentioned from Facebook. Seems like attempt to hijack information."

Student Loan Forgiveness Robocalls

Health Insurance & Medicare Impersonators

Callers pretend to represent Medicare or specific health plans like "Atrio Health" and try to sell you supplemental plans you don't need or schedule unsolicited "home health appointments." They ask for your Medicare number over the phone. They use your insurance information to steal your identity or bill fraudulent services to your account. Medicare and legitimate insurance companies communicate official business through mail and will not send someone to your home without your prior arrangement.
