Afghanistan Phone Books

Dialing code: +93   ·   ISO code: AFG

In just ten years the phone and internet market has really expanded in this country. The current directories out there are still limited but this can only improve in time - however; three have been removed from this section in the last few weeks as they are no longer functional at this time. As the market changes and grows there will still be a lot of new directories coming and going.

Guidelines on how to utilize the National Numbering Plan (NNP)

1) The numbers between 200 and 999 followed by four digits make a total of close to 8 million telephone numbers in each province, which could be divided among different carriers.

2) The CDMA/WLL numbers will have 07X followed by seven digits in the same way as the fixedline subscribers. Out of the seven digits, two can be used to identify locations and five as the Subscriber Number (SN).

See the Table below.

Dialling instructions

– For trunk calls: 0 + Area or Carrier Code + Subscriber Number (SN)

– For international calls: 00 + Country Code (CC) + Area Code + Subscriber Number (SN)

The following Table shows how, in the case of CDMA, the 8 million numbers can be distributed among cities and provinces all over the country.
