Frequently asked Questions about our email service
- What does this cost me?
Nothing.
- Can people send me attachments?
Yes.
- How do I use your service?
Just give out your new thisnumber.com email address at every opportunity.
When you receive email at your thisnumber.com email address and it
forwards to your regular email address, you can just REPLY to it in the
normal way. Your customer will now have your REGULAR email address in
their email. (Correctly spelled). They can either click REPLY to reply
directly to that address, or send an email to your thisnumber.com address.
It doesn't matter. You will get it either way.
- What phone numbers can I use?
Any land line, cell phone, voice mail or fax number in the "1" country
code. That is USA, Canada, Caribbean etc. See below.
- Clever idea, but I could just use my phone
number as my Hotmail or Yahoo email address.
You certainly can. However you would then have another email address to
check. And if you don't check it often enough, your mail box fills up and
your mail will get bounced back to the sender. Not only that, but you look
inefficient if you don't get back to customers quickly.
Plus thisnumber.com is designed for business people to project a
professional image. Hotmail CANNOT be used for commercial purposes, it is
against their rules.
- I have more than one phone number.
You can set up a thisnumber.com email address for every phone number you
have, including your cell phone number, PROVIDED these are YOUR phone
numbers.
- How can I forward text messages to my cell
phone?
Just set up your cell phone number as a "thisnumber.com" account.
Then set up your forward email address as follows:
A T & T: Your cell phone
number@mobile.att.net
Verizon: Your cell phone
number@verizon.net
Sprint: Your cell phone
number@sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: Your cell phone
number@mobile.net OR @voicestream.net
Cingular: Your cell phone
number@mobile.mycingular.net
Nextel: Your cell phone
number@nextel.com
IT YOU CHANGE CARRIERS, and keep your phone number, just change your
forwarding email address, no need to contact all your customers!
- How about company phone numbers?
The OWNER of the phone number can set up service with us or someone who
has their permission. The owner of the phone number always has the right
to control who uses it on our service.
- What if I move and my phone number changes?
Just create another free thisnumber.com address and start using it. Let us
know and we will transfer your unused payments to the new number.
- What if someone else sets up MY phone number on
your service?
Fax us your phone bill as proof that it IS your phone number to:
1-206-666-1880, and we will cancel their account and give it to you, the
rightful owner.
- How can I advertise on your service?
We only allow ads on our site that we consider ethical. So no porn, drugs
etc. For more information.
- We can't use your service. More than one person
has an email address on our company site.
Yes you can. You have three choices:
- Use your direct line number if you have one.
- Designate one person to receive the emails sent to your company phone
number and then forward them to the right person.
- Set up your thisnumber.com account including your extension number.
Then just tell your caller to add your extension number to your
phone number to get your email address. So if your phone number is 212 345
7070 and you are at extension 12, your thisnumber.com email address would be
212-345-7070x12@thisnumber.com.
- What countries is your service available in?
Right now only in those countries with a "1" country code,
that is: USA, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico etc.
- Why can't I sign up with a free email address such as Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail?
We do not allow this to prevent our service being used for illegal spamming.
- What about Spam?
We only forward email to your regular email address. You will be using the
same anti-spam controls your ISP has set up there.
- Viruses.
We have an anti-virus system monitoring our mail. This is intended as an
extra safeguard and does NOT mean that you should not run your own,
regularly updated anti-virus software.
- What happens if people get my email address wrong.
If the phone number does not exist as a number on our system the email
will bounce back to them.
- If the number does exist as a valid email address on our system then
that other user will get your email. This is EXACTLY the same as any other
Internet Service provider. Example, if you are
johndoe1@aol.com and someone else is
johndoe2@aol.com then email sent
accidentally to johndoe2 will go to them even if it was meant for you.
